Way back when I was 10 years old, I broke my right ankle. Back
then they put on a very heavy plaster walking cast. In fact it
was so heavy that I needed to use both hands to help lift the
cast when I wanted to roll over in bed. Like many children I hated
using the crutches so most of the time I got around without using
them. The heavy cast stretched the muscles on the inside of my
right leg. When they took the cast off I walked with my foot turned
out and when I got tired I would noticeably drag that leg. When
I would stand with both feet side by side pointing straight forward,
I would feel the muscles pull and twist from the top of my leg
all the way down to my ankle. I could not stand like that for
any length of time because it was too uncomfortable and I would
quickly loose my balance. The doctors thought my leg had been
set crooked and wanted to re-break it and set it again but my
parents declined to have that done. I made frequent visits to
the chiropractor because the leg I broke was about 1/2 inch longer
than my other leg. This difference threw my lower back out of
alignment causing almost constant pain and discomfort. Over the
counter pain killers did little to relieve the situation. I suffered
for nearly 15 years.
Then in the Fall of 2005 I signed
up for a ‘Yamuna® Body Rolling’ class conducted by
Barbara Searles. I was so excited about how effective the techniques
were at reducing muscle tension in my body. I had been practicing
a few of these techniques for only about 2 weeks when one morning
I discovered that I could stand with both feet together pointing
straight forward and there was no discomfort and the muscles were
not pulling from the top of my leg down to my ankle. So I decided
to try something else that I was never able to do very well because
my muscles were just not flexible enough. I got down on the floor
and sat ‘Indian’ fashion on the floor. For the first
time that I could recall I was able to sit on the floor like that
with no discomfort. I am so thrilled with the results I am experiencing
with ‘Yamuna® Body Rolling’.
Another benefit of ‘Yamuna®
Body Rolling’ I discovered quite by accident; I like to
take long walks (1 1/2 - 2 hours in length) but normally I only
get to do this on the weekends so I tend to end up a bit stiff
and sore. One Sunday when I got home from a 2 hour walk I had
a few minutes before I needed to start cooking supper so I decided
to work out on the ball a bit. The next morning when I got up
to go to work my legs were not stiff or sore at all.
Another benefit that I noticed from
‘Yamuna® Body Rolling’ has been a reduction of menstrual
cramps. Since starting ‘Body Rolling’ I take only
about 1/3 of the over-the-counter pain killers that I used to
take for menstrual cramps. I am excited about discovering more
benefits from ‘Yamuna® Body Rolling’ as I continue
to experiment with the ball and learning new techniques.
